A full visual diff is not always necessary. Editorial reviews, release notes, and generated files often need a fast answer to how much changed and which complete lines were introduced or removed.
How to use the Text Diff Statistics
- Paste the earlier text in the Before field and the revision in After.
- Run the comparison to see line, word, and character totals.
- Review the unique added and removed lines as a compact change summary.
A practical example
Changing beta to beta updated appears as one removed line and one added line, while an unchanged alpha line is excluded from both lists.

Checks before you use the output
- This is a line-set summary, not a character-by-character patch.
- Repeated identical lines are summarized by membership rather than occurrence count.
- Normalize line endings only when that matches the review goal.
Use the result as part of a review
Summarize line, word, and character changes between two drafts. The output is designed to make a small task faster, but it should still be checked against the requirements of the destination system, document, or decision.
